DANCE CLASSES
Our dance classes are held in 5 – 7 week blocks, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings at our studio in Perth. Each class runs for approximately 60 – 90 minutes depending on the level being instructed.
Please note, all of our classes are by enrolment only. Select the class you would like to attend below, and complete your enrolment. Don’t worry if you’re coming on your own! Students in all of our courses are a mixture of singles and couples and there is no need to bring a partner. About 70% of our clients actually come on their own.
We also hold a social dance after each class which is open to the public, so you can practice the techniques you have learned and socialise with your fellow students and teachers, and other Gilkisons clients.
If you would prefer one-on-one tuition or simply aren’t ready to join a class, consider booking a private dance lesson with one of our teachers.

The Beginner Level 1 Course is designed for those who have not danced before or for those in need of a refresher.
Dances taught are…CHA CHA, WALTZ, JIVE, SLOW RHYTHM, RUMBA, BARN DANCE, PROGRESSIVE JIVE, MERENGUE, SALSA
They are popular dances that will enable you to perform confidently on the dance floor
at any wedding, cabaret, social dance or club.
Classes are held over consecutive weeks [5-7 weeks dependent of public holidays] with one lesson per week running for 55 minutes each.
All courses include FREE access to all general social dance nights to enable practice of what has been taught.

5 week course @ $80 per person
One lesson held each week between 7:30pm – 8:30pm, followed by an included social dance. Dances taught in Level one: Rumba, Cha cha , Jive , Waltz, Slow Rhythm, Barn Dance and Progressive Jive, Merengue, Salsa. Included free access to all standard social dance nights during the course.
Please note that this class has been reduced to a 5 week course to accommodate for the Christmas Break Gilkisons will be closed from Saturday 23rd December 2023 - Thursday 4th January 2024. All classes will be on hold during the Christmas break.
After the introduction to Beginner Level One, the next development is the Level 2 Course.
The Level Two course is for those that have basic Latin and Modern dance history or have completed our Beginners Level One course and are a little more confident on the dance floor.
The Level Two course teaches extra variations in the… CHA CHA, WALTZ, JIVE, RUMBA,It also introduces the SAMBA, EVENING 3 STEP and QUICKSTEP

After the Beginner Level 2 Course, next in our program is the Level 3 Course. This is the final and more advanced stage of our introduction/beginners group of courses prior to moving onto the Advanced group of courses

One lesson held each week between 7:00pm – 8:30pm, followed by an included social dance.
Includes introduction to advanced technique to both Latin and Modern styles
Variations taught in Bronze:
CHA CHA, WALTZ, QUICKSTEP, RUMBA, SAMBA, TANGO, JIVE Also an introduction to VIENNESE WALTZ
6 Week course for $180 per person [Courses vary in price and length over Public Holidays and Festive Holidays]
This course is the highest of the Gilkisons classes.
It focus on routines and extremely advanced combinations of steps and partner work.

6 week course @ $150 per person Learn new variations to the Evening 3 Step and Mayfair Quickstep in this Dance Workshop. These steps are not taught in any of our regular courses. MAYFAIR QUICKSTEP & EVENING THREE STEP They are popular dances done at most almost all social dance socials. This workshop will enable you to improve and enhance your current skills and perform confidently on any dance floor This workshop is open to all who have learnt the basic sequence in both dances. (Clients are required to enrol as a Leader or a Follower, as even numbers are essential.)
